BNXN Challenges Fat Joe's Afrobeat Origin Claims

Nigerian singer BNXN, formerly known as Buju, reacted to comments made by American rapper Fat Joe during a recent podcast, where Fat Joe suggested that Afrobeat has Jamaican origins. BNXN, who changed his name from Buju in homage to Jamaican dancehall artist Buju Banton, took to his X account on Thursday to refute Fat Joe's claims.

He described the remarks as inaccurate and called for a better understanding of Afrobeat and its roots within African music. BNXN emphasized the importance of educating oneself about African music, expressing frustration over the misinformation surrounding it.

He stated, "Hate African music? It’s artists like you that affect the look," and urged Fat Joe to "educate yourself" on the subject, using a dismissive tone towards the rapper's comments.
