Bank of Agriculture Launches Digital Services for Farmers

The Bank of Agriculture, under the leadership of Managing Director Ayo Sotinrin, is implementing a comprehensive digital transformation aimed at overhauling its operations and financing model to better support farmers. During a press briefing on Thursday evening, Sotinrin outlined the bank's shift from a government agency to a government-owned bank, emphasizing the need to digitize its services.

The bank has established a technical working group, including eight Chief Technology Officers from Nigeria's largest banks, to develop a roadmap for its technology infrastructure. Key changes include replacing manual processes with digital banking platforms, allowing customers to access services via electronic channels.

The bank has introduced an electronic wallet system that enables transparent government interventions, such as loading agricultural inputs directly onto farmers' accounts. This initiative is part of a broader restructuring effort to modernize the Bank of Agriculture and enhance its service delivery to farmers.
