Boko Haram, ISWAP Establish New Hideouts in Borno

Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly set up new hideouts in Tuba Settlement, close to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in the Jere Local Council of Borno State. Local farmers have observed approximately 200 motorcycles, which are believed to be used by the terrorists, establishing a fortress in the area.

The groups are targeting locations including the Madinatu Maiduguri cattle market and the Maiduguri-Monguno-Mafa road. Reports indicate that the two terror organizations have dispatched small attack detachments on motorcycles towards the Ngom community along the Maiduguri-Dikwa road, which is about 40 kilometers from Maiduguri.

The hideouts are situated near the southern fringes of the Sambisa Forest, a primary insurgent stronghold in the northeast. A 65-year-old hunter named Konto Aliyu has expressed concerns regarding the security threats posed by the terrorists' presence in the council area and has urged the Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai, led by Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, to take action to destroy the hideouts and weaken the operational capabilities of the insurgents.
