Abuja High Court Halts PDP National Convention in Ibadan Again

The Abuja High Court, under Justice Peter Lifu, has issued a restraining order against the PDP's planned National Convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. This order came in response to a suit filed by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, alleging being unlawfully denied the opportunity to purchase a nomination form for the national chairmanship position.

The court criticized the PDP for failing to comply with legal requirements governing the convention, emphasizing the importance of due process in democracy. This is not the first time the court has intervened in the PDP's convention plans, with a similar halt occurring in October 2025.

The legal uncertainties surrounding the convention have raised questions about the party's leadership election process.
