Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price to N1,175 Per Liter

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised the price of premium motor spirit (petrol) to N1,175 per liter, marking the third upward adjustment within a week. This latest price revision follows a temporary suspension of petrol sales at the refinery on Sunday.

The price increase, which is N180 or 18.1% higher than the previous price of N995 per liter announced on Friday, reflects significant volatility in the market and rising operational costs. Additionally, the price of automotive gas oil (diesel) has been adjusted to N1,620 per liter.

A senior official from the refinery, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the price adjustments, which are expected to trigger further increases at fuel stations nationwide. The current economic pressures in Nigeria are exacerbated by these rising fuel costs, which typically lead to higher transport and logistics expenses.

The adjustments are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to manage crude oil supply and maintain domestic refining operations.
