Akwa Ibom Student Leader Comrade Daniel Dies in NYSC Camp
Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, the immediate past Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of Akwa Ibom State University, died at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Enugu State. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) confirmed his death, stating that Daniel complained of a headache and was given medication, after which his condition worsened.
He requested to be taken to the hospital, but the approval was allegedly delayed, leading to his death before he could receive medical attention. NANS President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, expressed shock at the news and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daniel's death, particularly regarding the alleged fake medication.
NANS mourned Daniel's loss and highlighted the dangers of fake drugs, calling for measures to protect young Nigerians. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of prospective corps members, especially following recent abductions in the region.
