Court Dismisses Al-Mustapha's Property Appeal, Orders Fine

The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha, concerning a property dispute over a plot of land in the Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory. Justice Okon Abang delivered the unanimous decision on Monday, stating the appeal, marked CA/ABJ/PRE/ROA/CV/1439M2/2025, was without merit.

The court ordered Al-Mustapha to pay N1 million in costs to Al-Nuri Properties Limited, the sole respondent. The dispute originated from a transaction where Al-Mustapha sold the property for approximately N100 million but later attempted to reclaim it, claiming the deal was a loan.

Al-Nuri Properties filed a suit on March 16, 2020, asserting ownership, leading to a default judgment in their favor on June 16, 2023. Al-Mustapha's subsequent attempts to reverse this ruling were dismissed, and his application for an extension to appeal was found unconvincing by the appellate court.
