EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sadiya Farouq Wanted for Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development, and Disaster Management, wanted over allegations of fraud. The EFCC's announcement, published on their official website on Saturday, states that Farouq is accused of abusing her office and misappropriating various public funds.

Farouq, who is 52 years old and hails from Zamfara State, has a last known address at EN008 Okpo River off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja. The EFCC has urged the public to provide any information regarding her whereabouts, offering contact details for reporting.

A warrant for her arrest was issued by the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on April 16, 2026. Sadiya Umar Farouq was appointed by the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2019, becoming the youngest minister in the federal cabinet during his administration.
