BREAKING: FG Appoints Opeyemi Agbaje as PenCom Chairman Amid NLC Pressure

The Federal Government has appointed Opeyemi Agbaje as the new Chairman of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) in response to pressure from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The NLC had demanded the constitution of the PenCom governing board in accordance with the law within seven working days, threatening industrial action.

Agbaje, the Chief Executive Officer of RTC Advisory Services Ltd, brings extensive experience in banking and strategy consulting to the role. The appointment, subject to Senate confirmation, is seen as a signal of renewed focus on strengthening PenCom's governance and improving pension fund management in Nigeria.

The move is expected to address concerns raised by various stakeholders, including the NLC, and ensure effective oversight of the pension industry.
