Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan addressed speculations about the collapse of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing such claims and asserting the party's strength and resilience. Jonathan, during a meeting with the party's National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki in Abuja, emphasized PDP's pivotal role in Nigeria's democratic journey since its establishment in 1998. He highlighted the party's contributions to democracy, citing his own political journey within the PDP from deputy governor to president.

Jonathan urged the PDP leadership to prioritize national interests and institutional development over personal ambitions. Turaki, in response, appreciated Jonathan's guidance and assured loyalty to the party. The meeting aimed to strategize for the 2027 general elections, focusing on rebuilding and repositioning the PDP for a return to power.
