Governor Fubara's failure to resume duty after a six-month suspension has sparked tension in Rivers State. Despite President Tinubu lifting the state emergency, neither Fubara nor his deputy appeared at the Government House, disappointing their supporters.

The state Assembly quickly resumed plenary following the end of the emergency rule. Thousands of loyalists gathered at the Government House to welcome back Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, whose whereabouts remained unknown.
