BREAKING: Japan denies special visa category for Nigerians in Kisarazu ‘Hometown’ tag

Japan has denied the introduction of a special visa category for Nigerians looking to relocate to Kisarazu city, despite it being designated as Nigeria's official 'hometown' during the recent Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) unveiled the JICA Africa Hometown initiative, which aims to strengthen ties between African nations and Japanese local governments.

The initiative pairs four Japanese cities with four African countries, including Kisarazu with Nigeria. However, Japan's Foreign Ministry stated that there are no plans to introduce a special visa category for African residents, contradicting earlier reports.

The ministry emphasized that JICA's goal is to promote exchange activities, rather than immigration measures.
