Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Resigns from NNPP Citing Internal Crisis

Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has resigned from the Nigeria National Party for Progress (NNPP) due to deepening internal crises within the party and the need to protect the broader interests of the people of Kano State. In a statement signed by the governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf expressed appreciation for the party's support but highlighted persistent internal disputes and legal challenges affecting the party's structure nationwide.

The governor's decision to resign was supported by 21 members of the state assembly, 8 members of the House of Representatives, and 44 local government chairmen in Kano State. The chairman of the NNPP in Gwale Local Government Area, Kabiru Zubairu, commended Governor Yusuf for his notable achievements in infrastructure, urban renewal, health, education, and economic empowerment.
