Breaking: Lagos Declares Fresh Public Holiday, Details Emerge

Lagos State has declared a fresh public holiday to commemorate the 2025 Isese Day, which was held on Wednesday, August 20. The announcement was made through a circular issued by the Head of Service, Huiel Bode Agoro, making it a day off for public servants in the state.

The holiday is part of the government's commitment to promoting indigenous culture, heritage, and tradition, as well as supporting traditional institutions. The circular instructed all government officials, including the deputy governor, speaker of the state house assembly, and others, to observe the holiday.

Isese Day is an annual celebration of the adherents of traditional religion in Yorubaland, aimed at preserving and honoring the rich cultural heritage of the Lagos people. The public holiday for Isese Day is also expected to be declared in other states in the Southwest region.
