Nigeria Sees $6.44 Billion Capital Inflow in Q4 2025

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria recorded a total capital import of $6.44 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing a 26.6% increase compared to $5.09 billion in the same period in 2024. This figure also shows a quarter-on-quarter increase from $6.01 billion in Q3 2025.
The capital inflow was primarily driven by strong portfolio investments, which accounted for $5.49 billion, or 85.14% of the total capital import. Foreign direct investment (FDI) contributed $357.80 million, representing just 5.55% of the total inflow.
The banking sector was the largest recipient, attracting $3.85 billion, or 59.75% of the total inflow. The United Kingdom emerged as the largest source of capital inflow, contributing $3.73 billion, followed by the United States with $837.91 million.
Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC recorded the highest capital import at $2.23 billion, followed by Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Ltd at $1.85 billion.
