Diezani Alison-Madueke Acquitted of Bribery Charges

Diezani Alison-Madueke, who served as Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources from 2010 to 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan, was cleared of all charges related to bribery by the Southwark Crown Court in London. The jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict after 46 hours of deliberation on six counts of conspiracy to commit bribery.

Alison-Madueke, aged 65, faced accusations of accepting bribes in the oil and gas industry in exchange for lucrative contracts in Nigeria. Prosecutors alleged that she provided a lavish lifestyle in London in return for influencing the awarding of contracts.

Throughout the trial, Alison-Madueke denied the allegations, maintaining that she did not accept bribes and had no direct influence over government contract awards.
