El-Rufai Claims Ribadu Ordered His Arrest in Abuja

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai alleged that Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, ordered his arrest during his return trip from Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday. El-Rufai made this revelation while hosting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who paid a solidarity visit to him.

He clarified that the incident involved the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS), and not the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). El-Rufai expressed his understanding that the ICPC chairman acted on Ribadu's direct orders.

He indicated that this situation is part of a broader strategy to build a viable opposition against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections, emphasizing the need for unity among opposition forces.
