Tinubu Declares Nationwide Security Emergency, Orders Massive Police and Military Recruitment

In response to the worsening security challenges in Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency and directed the Nigerian Police Force and armed forces to embark on a significant recruitment drive. Tinubu has approved the recruitment of an additional 20,000 police personnel, raising the total number of new officers slated for enlistment to 50,000.

The recruitment process will also involve the temporary use of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps as training centers. Tinubu emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among law enforcement agencies to combat criminal elements effectively.

This move comes amidst a surge in insecurity across Nigeria.
