Wike Mourns Death of PDP Leader Daniel Osi Orbih

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, expressed deep sorrow following the death of Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who served as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman for the South South zone. Orbih passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 1, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike referred to Orbih's death as the "fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest," highlighting his qualities as a friend and political companion. Wike stated, "I have lost a friend and a committed political ally," and emphasized that Orbih embodied everything one could hope for in a friend and political associate.

He extended condolences to Orbih's family, including his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, and his daughters, Miss Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih. Wike concluded his tribute with a prayer for Orbih's soul to rest in peace.
