Brighton Signs Nigerian Winger Zadok Yohanna for £28M

Zadok Yohanna, an 18-year-old Nigerian winger, has completed a record-breaking transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion from Swedish club AIK Fotboll for an initial fee of £28 million, with potential add-ons bringing the total to £30 million. Yohanna has signed a five-year contract with Brighton, valid until June 2031.

This transfer surpasses the previous record for the Swedish league, which was held by Luca Bergvall's move from Djurgården to Tottenham Hotspur for £20 million in 2024. During his time at AIK, Yohanna made 18 senior appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

Brighton's head coach, Fabian Hurzel, expressed excitement about Yohanna's potential and attributes, noting the player's ability to impact the game in the final third. Yohanna described the transfer as a fulfillment of a lifelong dream, having previously signed his first professional contract with AIK.

AIK's head of recruitment, Miika Takkula, acknowledged the transfer as part of the club's long-term development vision.
