British Newlyweds Die in Sifnos Helicopter Crash

On Monday, a private helicopter crash on the Greek island of Sifnos resulted in the deaths of British newlyweds Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert, along with their Greek pilot. The helicopter was approaching a landing pad when it crashed just meters from its destination.

The couple had traveled from Markopoulo, near Athens, to Sifnos as part of their honeymoon. The crash occurred around 18:15 local time, shortly before the helicopter was expected to land.

Witnesses reported hearing a “bizarre engine noise” before the crash. Sifnos Deputy Mayor Manolis Foundoulakis described the wreckage as almost completely destroyed and noted that residents nearby witnessed the incident.

Emergency services responded to extinguish the fire caused by the crash. Greek authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has cast a shadow over the popular tourist destination during the summer holiday season.
