Brown Ideye: AFCON 2013 Winner Announces Retirement From Professional Football

Former Nigerian international Brown Ideye has announced his retirement from professional football, thanking Nigerians for their support throughout his career. Ideye's decade-long career saw him play for clubs across Europe, including FC Sochaux in France, Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine, and West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League.

He notably won the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2011 and the Ukrainian Cup during his time with Dynamo Kyiv. Ideye also represented Nigeria at the U20 level in the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup and earned 28 caps for the senior national team, scoring 6 goals.

He played a crucial role in Nigeria's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title under Stephen Keshi. Ideye's retirement statement expressed gratitude to his fans and marked the end of his international career, which began in 2010.
