The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has proposed a budget of N1.07 billion for the year 2027 aimed at expanding Bible translation projects and strengthening outreach programs throughout Nigeria. This proposed budget represents a 14% increase from the N943 million approved for 2025.
Of this budget, N216.6 million is earmarked for ongoing Bible translation projects in various Nigerian languages, including N54.2 million allocated for a Nigerian Sign Language Bible project targeting the deaf community. The complete cost for the full Bible translation project is estimated at least N150 million.
Additionally, N162.1 million is allocated for the Macedonian Call intervention program, which provides Bible relief materials, including food, clothing, and educational support for internally displaced persons in underserved communities. The statement disclosed that N102 million has already been spent in the first quarter of the year on Bible translation outreach initiatives.
Pastor Samuel Sanusi, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of BSN, stated that the budget reflects the organization’s commitment to improving lives despite prevailing economic challenges.
