Atiku Abubakar Critiques N1.08 Trillion Budget Allocation

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed serious concerns regarding the 2026 Appropriation Act, which allocated N1.08 trillion to the Federal Cooperative College in Oji River, Enugu State, for 2,791 capital projects across Nigeria. In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku condemned this allocation as indicative of a scheme to defraud Nigerians rather than a legitimate governance effort.

He highlighted that it contradicts the government's claims of fiscal discipline, particularly at a time when the administration is advocating for painful reforms and higher taxes. Atiku questioned the rationale behind transforming a cooperative college into a major project-implementing agency, raising concerns about accountability and transparency in public spending.

He argued that such a budget undermines the credibility of the Tinubu administration and reflects a medieval financial system where the treasury is mismanaged.
