Police Confirm Laborers, Not Criminals, in Ifo Bus Incident

The Ogun State Police Command addressed concerns regarding a bus intercepted in Ifo, which was reported to be carrying suspected criminals. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, clarified that the bus was actually transporting 21 laborers engaged by a construction company for the ongoing federal road reconstruction and rehabilitation project on Ifo-Ibogun Road.

The police received intelligence on June 3, 2026, prompting a swift response from their anti-robbery team, which led to the bus's interception. Upon verification, the police confirmed that the workers were legitimately employed and not linked to any criminal activities.

Babaseyi emphasized that the report associating the bus with criminal activity was false and unfounded. The police assured the safety of the workers and provided an escort to the work site.

Additionally, the police cautioned the public against spreading unverified information that could lead to unnecessary panic and harassment of law-abiding citizens.
