CAF Selects Ethiopian Referees for Nigeria's AFCON Match

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a team of Ethiopian match officials for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria, scheduled for September 28, 2026. The match will take place at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau, with kick-off at 4pm local time (5pm in Nigeria).

Tewodros Mitiku will act as the centre referee, assisted by Fasika Biru Fasika and Tigle Belachew as the first and second assistant referees, respectively. Manuhe Woldetsadik will serve as the fourth official.

Additionally, Senegalese official Yaya Balde has been appointed as the match commissioner, while former Gambian FIFA referee Papa Bakary Gassama will be the referee assessor. Both teams enter the match with three points from their initial Group L fixtures, with Nigeria having won 2-1 against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau defeating Tanzania 2-0.

Guinea-Bissau currently leads Group L on goal difference, with Nigeria in second place.
