CAF Launches Probe Into Violence After Algeria vs Nigeria AFCON Clash

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has initiated an official investigation into the violent incidents that occurred after the Algeria vs Nigeria match during the AFCON 2025 quarter-final. Nigeria emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Algeria at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

The scenes of violence involved players and officials, including the referee Issa Sy. Algerian journalists also created a commotion in the mix zone.

The clashes led to the arrest of two videographers by Moroccan police. CAF acknowledged receiving a full report and video evidence of the incidents.

The tournament continues with two semi-final matches scheduled in Rabat and Tanger.
