CAF Reforms Aim to Restore Confidence in African Football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), led by President Patrice Motsepe, is undertaking significant reforms to restore confidence in African football administration. These reforms are particularly focused on officiating and governance, aiming to prevent incidents similar to those that marred previous finals, including the AFCON tournament.

CAF has emphasized the importance of appointing top African judges and lawyers to its disciplinary appeal board, ensuring the independence and impartiality of its judicial organs. Motsepe highlighted the need for continuous training and investment in referees to enhance their professionalism and welfare, ensuring they are adequately rewarded for maintaining high standards.

The reforms also include obtaining expert legal advice to align CAF regulations with international football standards. Furthermore, CAF is committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and misconduct, ensuring fair treatment for all member associations.
