CAF Releases Two Referees Ahead of AFCON 2025 Semi-Finals in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released two referees, Boubou Traor from Mali and Abdou Abdel Mefir from Cameroon, from officiating duties for the remaining matches of the AFCON 2025 in Morocco. The decision was not accompanied by an official reason.

CAF has implemented a significant overhaul in match analysis techniques for the tournament, introducing a fully integrated remote-based analysis system with advanced technological collaboration. Belhassen Malouch, the leader of the technical study group, highlighted the new model's emphasis on detailed and consistent technical reports.

The move aims to enhance the quality of officiating and adapt to modern football demands.
