CAF Salutes Nigerian Stars Osimhen, Lookman, Bassey for AFCON 2025 Performances

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) commended Nigerian players Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Calvin Bassey for their exceptional performances in the recently concluded AFCON 2025 held in Morocco. Nigeria clinched the bronze medal after a successful campaign, defeating Egypt in the play-off match.

Osimhen, with four goals, emerged as a key player, while Lookman provided four assists during the tournament. Bassey stood out with the highest average of 74 passes per 90 minutes.

Notable statistics include Alex Iwobi's record-breaking 46 line-break passes and Stanlei Nwabali's clean sheet achievements. The tournament also saw tributes paid to DR Congo superfan Michel Kuka Mboladinga, depicting former Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba.

Nigeria's journey included victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Algeria before falling to Morocco in the semi-finals.
