CAF Team Confident in Nigeria's Event Preparations for 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team has expressed confidence in Nigeria's preparations to host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the CAF Awards ceremony. The General Assembly is set for November 21, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, while the CAF Awards will take place in Lagos on December 7.
A 15-member CAF delegation, led by Dr Christian Emeruwa, Head of Safety and Security, is in Nigeria for a final assessment of facilities and logistics. The National Sports Commission (NSC), through a press release signed by Zira Zakka Nagga, confirmed the inspection aims to ensure all requirements for the successful hosting of the events are met.
The delegation inspected key facilities, including the conference centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Discussions with Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the NSC, focused on operational arrangements, including accommodation and transportation.
The NSC is also working on visa and entry procedures for delegates.
