Carlos Baleba Joins Manchester United for £70 Million

Carlos Baleba, a 22-year-old midfielder from Cameroon, has officially joined Manchester United from Brighton and Hove Albion, as announced by the club on Tuesday. The transfer fee is reported to be £70 million ($95 million), marking him as the third midfielder signed by Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

This acquisition brings United's total spending on midfielders to over £150 million this window, following the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. Baleba has been recognized for his talent, having ranked sixth in the Premier League for combined tackles and interceptions during the 2024/25 season, and fourth for progressive ball carries per 90 minutes.

Despite a less impressive last season, Manchester United remained interested in him after initially considering a transfer a year prior. Baleba expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating it is a dream come true and looks forward to working with current coach Michael Carrick.
