Canada Sets Six Requirements for Skilled Worker Residency

The Canadian government has outlined six essential conditions that foreign skilled workers must meet to qualify for permanent residence through the Federal Skilled Worker Programme under Express Entry. This programme is aimed at skilled workers, including managers and supervisors, typically requiring a university degree, college diploma, or apprenticeship training.

The conditions include: 1) work experience in TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3; 2) experience must align with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) of the primary occupation listed; 3) applicants must have performed the actions in the relevant NOC job description; 4) experience must be gained within the last 10 years; 5) work must be paid; and 6) at least one year of continuous work or 1,560 hours total is required. Additionally, applicants are assessed on a points-based system with factors including language skills, education, and age.

A minimum score of 67 points out of 100 is necessary to submit a profile to the Express Entry pool.
