Nigerian Catholic Bishops Decry Worsening Security Situation, Call for Urgent Action

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has raised alarm over the worsening security conditions in Nigeria, highlighting ongoing violence, abductions, and property destruction across the country. The bishops expressed deep concerns over attacks on predominantly Christian communities in the northern and middle belt regions, resulting in heavy casualties and loss of lives.

They condemned the delayed security responses, possible collusion, and lack of will to act, leading to despair among the people. The CBCN also called on the government to urgently protect lives and properties, investigate security delays, release abductees, and ensure justice for victims of heinous crimes.

The bishops emphasized the need for unity, peace, justice, and dialogue to address the security challenges and restore peace in the diverse nation.
