CBN Warns Public About Fraudulent Messages and Hacks

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has raised an alarm about fraudulent messages and attempted cyber security hacks that are circulating online. These messages, which falsely claim to originate from the CBN, aim to misinform the public and potentially compromise personal accounts.

Mr. Hakama Sidi Ali, the CBN's Director of Corporate Communications, issued a statement advising recipients of these fraudulent messages to avoid clicking on links that lead to suspicious websites.

He emphasized that the official CBN website remains www.cbn.gov.ng and urged the public to verify any communications through this official channel. The CBN has also reported these fraudulent activities to law enforcement authorities and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's financial system.

The bank will continue to strengthen its cybersecurity framework in collaboration with relevant agencies to protect the public against digital fraud.
