Nigeria Launches 2025 Purple Book for Inclusive Tax Reforms

The Policy Innovation Centre, in collaboration with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, launched the 2025 Purple Book in Abuja, focusing on inclusive tax reforms. The event, themed "Advancing Inclusive Security," featured Mr.

Taiwo Oyedele, the newly appointed Minister of State for Finance, who highlighted Nigeria's ongoing fiscal reforms anchored by four landmark laws: the Nigeria Tax Act, Nigeria Tax Administration Act, Nigeria Revenue Service Act, and Joint Revenue Board Act. Mr.

Albert Folorunsho, a member of the Presidential Fiscal Policy Tax Reform Committee, discussed the reforms aimed at simplifying compliance and promoting fairness across sectors. Ms.

Maryam Uwai emphasized that tax systems should be evaluated beyond revenue generation, advocating for trust-building and visible benefits for citizens. Other speakers, including regional directors from various organizations, stressed the importance of inclusive policymaking to address gender and social disparities, particularly for women and youth in the informal sector.

The Purple Book aims to shape ongoing fiscal discussions and reinforce efforts towards integrating gender equity in Nigeria's development agenda ahead of the 2026 gender-inclusive summit.
