Eric Chelle Faces Injury Concerns Before Guinea-Bissau Match

Ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is dealing with injury concerns, particularly regarding debutant George Ilenikhena. The 20-year-old Al-Ittihad forward, who scored Nigeria's equaliser in a 2-1 victory over Madagascar, is doubtful for the match due to a minor injury.

Chelle stated that Ilenikhena will undergo a late fitness assessment before a final decision is made. Additionally, Chelle mentioned that two or three other players are feeling unwell but did not disclose their identities or ailments.

Both Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau enter the match with three points, having won their respective opening qualifiers. Despite the injury concerns, all 24 invited players participated in the official training session at the 24 September Stadium in Bissau.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 4pm local time in Guinea-Bissau, 5pm Nigerian time.
