Banjul NGO Forum Urges Sudan's Cooperation on Chemical Weapons Investigation

The Banjul NGO Forum, during its 85th session, adopted a draft resolution calling on Sudan to fully cooperate with the OPCW in investigating the alleged use of chemical weapons. The resolution demands the deployment of an independent technical team within Sudan to conduct a transparent investigation.

The forum highlighted Sudan's legal obligations under international conventions and expressed concerns over the government's denial of involvement. The resolution aims to pressure Sudan's military authorities to cooperate with international mechanisms for independent investigations into human rights violations.

The forum plans to establish an official African civil society position on the grave violations in Sudan during its 86th session.
