Chika Ikenga: Pioneer of Africa's Haircare Revolution

Chika Ikenga, a young chemist, founded Natures Gentle Touch in 1997, aiming to revolutionize African haircare by creating products tailored to local needs. Observing the damage caused by foreign haircare products, which often led to scalp burns and hair breakage, Ikenga sought to reclaim pride in homegrown solutions.

His journey began in the mid-1990s when he recognized a business opportunity to challenge the prevailing belief that foreign products were superior. After graduating with a degree in chemistry in 1986, Ikenga worked in various roles before launching his brand.

The first product, a relax shampoo and conditioner, was introduced in a market dominated by imports. Ikenga's commitment to developing effective products for African hair has transformed the industry over nearly three decades, providing consumers with pride in locally made goods and addressing the unique challenges of African hair care.
