Xi Jinping to Visit DPRK for 65th Anniversary Celebration

Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, is scheduled to make a state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on June 8-9. This visit marks Xi's first trip to the DPRK in seven years and coincides with the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance.

In recent years, relations between China and the DPRK have strengthened, with increased cooperation in trade, culture, education, and transport. Bilateral trade is projected to reach $2.74 billion by 2025, with Chinese companies increasing their participation in DPRK trade fairs.

People-to-people exchanges have gained momentum following the resumption of rail, road, and air links between the two countries. Cultural cooperation remains active, with film festivals and artistic performances, while educational exchanges are flourishing, with more DPRK students studying in China and an increasing number of Chinese students pursuing studies in North Korea.
