CIoD Nigeria Launches Chartered Director Certification Programme

The Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD Nigeria) has launched the Chartered Director Certification (ChDC) programme aimed at developing, validating, and recognizing professional directorship in Nigeria. This initiative follows the conferment of chartered status on the institute under the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2023.
During the launch, CIoD Nigeria President Mr. Adetunji Oyebanji stated that the programme is crucial for strengthening professional directorship and corporate governance. The ChDC features a flexible blended learning model divided into three stages: the Certificate in Company Directorship, the Advanced Certificate in Company Directorship, and the Chartered Directorship, which includes an experience-based assessment and a professional interview.
First Vice President Mrs. Amina Oyagbola described the launch as a significant milestone, while Chairman of the Director Development and Certification Committee, Mrs. Foluso Olaniyan, emphasized the programme's structure to transition candidates from experience to competence. Director-General Dr. Taiwo Nolas-Alausa noted that the programme aims to enhance the quality of judgment and accountability in boardrooms.
