Nigerian Contractors Suspend Protests After Senate Steps In

The Indigenous Contractor Association of Nigeria (AICAN) announced the suspension of ongoing protests in Abuja following Senate intervention led by Senator Adeyemi Adaramodu. The contractors were demanding payment for capital projects executed since 2024, totaling $3 billion.

During the protests, the association engaged with government officials, including Minister of Finance Wale Edun and Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu. The suspension is temporary to allow for discussions with the federal government on payment resolutions.

If no progress is made by the specified deadline, contractors plan to resume protests and notify foreign embassies.
