Builderstech MD Sentenced to 48 Years for ₦500m Investment Scam in Benue

Agene Johnson Godwin, the Managing Director of Builderstech Solutions Ltd, has been sentenced to 48 years in prison by the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State. He was found guilty of defrauding 5,000 unsuspecting investors through a fraudulent investment scheme that amassed ₦500 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the case, presenting evidence that Godwin collected funds from the public under false pretenses, promising unusually high and unrealistic returns on investment. The court determined that the scheme was not a legitimate business but a deceitful ploy to defraud investors.

Abubakar imposed a cumulative jail term of 48 years on Godwin without the option of a fine, emphasizing the gravity and devastating impact of the fraud on the victims. The EFCC welcomed the conviction, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding Nigerians against financial crimes and warning the public to be vigilant against investment schemes promising excessive returns.
