Bill Cosby Ordered to Pay $19 Million for Assault Claim

A California court has ordered comedian Bill Cosby to pay $19 million to Donna Motsing, who accused him of sexual assault that occurred 50 years ago when she was a waitress. The civil case was heard in Santa Monica, where Motsing testified that Cosby drugged her by giving her a glass of wine that she believed contained aspirin.

She became unconscious and later woke up at home wearing only her underwear, realizing she had been raped. The jury took three days to reach their verdict, which included $3 million in punitive damages.

Cosby, who is now 88 years old, has denied any memory of the incident, claiming any contact was consensual. This case follows a previous ruling where Cosby was ordered to pay $500,000 to Judi Huth for molestation that occurred in 1975 when she was just 16 years old.

Cosby was previously convicted in 2018 for sexual assault but was released in 2021 when his conviction was overturned.
