Court Dismisses Sowore's No-Case Submission in Abuja

On Friday, Justice Moham Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed the no-case submission filed by activist Omoyele Sowore in a cyberbullying case brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS). The prosecution alleged that Sowore engaged in cyberbullying against President Bola Tinubu through social media posts that purportedly referred to the President as a criminal.

Justice Umar ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case with sufficient links to the charges against Sowore. Consequently, the court dismissed Sowore's request for discharge and acquittal, stating that the threshold required for a defense to be met was not satisfied.

The case has been adjourned, and Sowore is expected to enter his defense against the two-count charge.
