Nigeria Customs Seizes 425.5kg of Drugs in Kwara

The Nigeria Customs Service, represented by Deputy Comptroller Najeem Ogundeyi, announced the interception of 425.5 kg of illegal substances, including 376 kg of Tramadol and 49.5 kg of cannabis, during operations in Kwara. This seizure was part of a broader effort to combat smuggling in notorious flashpoints such as Bukuro, Gurumi, and Okuta.

In addition to the drugs, the command confiscated 155 bags of foreign parboiled rice valued at ₦52.4 million, 3,697 packages of macaroni worth ₦110.9 million, and 418 jerrycans of vegetable oil valued at ₦27.1 million. The total volume of seized items included 237 jerrycans of premium motor spirit, 70 used tyres, 18 bales of second-hand clothing, and 19 jerrycans of corrosive chemicals.

For March 2026, the command recorded nine separate seizures with a total duty paid value of ₦204,763,439. The Customs Service emphasized its commitment to suppressing illegal trade and protecting national revenue.
