Customs Seizes N809.6m Expired Vapes in Lagos

The Nigeria Customs Service’s Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command intercepted a 40-foot container, registration number TIIU4739360, loaded with expired disposable vapes during a cargo examination. The total duty-paid value of the seized items is N809.6 million.

Bolaji Adigun, the Acting Customs Area Controller, announced this during a press briefing. The examination revealed 18 pallets of disposable vape products, totaling 484 cartons and 182,340 pieces, with expiry dates ranging from 2022 to 2026, rendering them unfit for use and posing public health risks.

The command has begun the process of handing over the seized items to the appropriate government agency for disposal. Adigun attributed the interception to the dedication of the command's officers, improved stakeholder compliance, and intelligence-driven strategies.

He reiterated the command's commitment to revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement activities to protect the economy and public welfare.
