Nigeria Customs Service Seizes ₦63m Petrol in Adamawa

The Nigeria Customs Service has seized 38,700 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, valued at ₦63 million, during a six-week operation aimed at combating petroleum smuggling in Adamawa State. Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Abubakar Aliyu, announced the seizure at a press briefing in Yola.
The operation was intelligence-led and focused on suspected smuggling hotspots and routes used for the unlawful movement of petroleum products across Nigeria's borders. Customs operatives recovered 1,548 jerrycans, each with a capacity of 25 litres, contributing to the total volume of seized petrol.
Additionally, a vehicle allegedly used for transporting the products was intercepted. The operations spanned several locations, including Malabu-Belel, Girei-Wuro Bokki, Gurin-Fufore, Wuro Alhaji-Maiha, and Mubi-Sahuda.
The ₦63 million duty-paid value includes the estimated value of the vehicle, but Customs did not provide a separate valuation for the petrol and the vehicle.
