Dangote Refinery Boosts Africa's Fuel Supply with Exports

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has enhanced Africa's fuel supply by exporting 12 cargo shipments of refined petroleum products, totaling 456,000 tons, to Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, and Togo. This achievement marks a significant milestone as the refinery aims to reach a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day by February 2026.

A senior official from the refinery, who spoke anonymously, noted that this development reflects growing confidence in Nigeria's refining capacity and its shift in the African fuel supply dynamics. The refinery's exports, which include high-quality Euro 5 gasoline and diesel, are expected to improve energy security in West, East, and Central Africa while reducing reliance on long-haul imports from Europe and the Middle East.

The official emphasized that the refinery's capabilities would not only meet Nigeria's domestic fuel demand but also position Nigeria as a key supplier in the African market, addressing fuel supply shortages exacerbated by global market disruptions.
