Dangote Cement Launches 2026 Unity Football Tournament

Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, is organizing the 2026 Unity Football Tournament, aimed at fostering peace, unity, and mutual understanding among local communities. Mr. Wakeel Olayiwola, Group Head of Social Performance, stated that the tournament serves as a platform for strengthening relationships through sports and youth engagement.

Participating communities include Oyo, Iwaa, Apata, Jakura, and Obajana, with the event scheduled to take place at the Dangote Academy. Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, Plant Director, urged the Local Organising Committee to ensure effective coordination and transparency in administration, player accreditation, and security arrangements.

Prince Ademola Adeyemi, Head of Social Performance, emphasized that the tournament aims to build lasting bonds and nurture emerging football talents. The tournament will officially open on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Comrade Ayodele Julius, Youth Chairman of Apata, assured organizers of peaceful coordination and support for unity throughout the competition.
